Remove Tomato Sauce Stains from Furniture Upholstery The tomato sauce stains are ones of the most visible and unpleasant stains that could happen to the upholstered furniture. We have prepared for you an idea for a good cleaning technique to help keep your home clean and neat.
How to Clean Tomato Sauce Stains
Step 1: Remove the excess sauce
Use a butter knife or a spoon to remove the excess quantities of tomato sauce from the upholstery. If the stain is still fresh you may use paper towels also.
Tip: If the stain is still fresh, be extra careful as you can easily spread it and damage a bigger area of the furniture.
Step 2: Cleaning mixture
Mix together one tablespoon of gentle liquid dish washing detergent and two cups warm water in a big bucket to create the cleaning solution.
Tip: Always test a small amount of the cleaning solution on a small hidden piece of the upholstery to make sure the detergent does not damage the colours and fibres of the fabrics.
Step 3: Treat the stain
Use a clean cotton towel to slowly saturate the stained area. Avoid rubbing the stain as this could damage the fibres and spread the stain. Always start working from the edges of the spot and move slowly to its centre.
Step 4: Blot
Gently blot the area with a dry piece of cloth to absorb the moisture and the tomato sauce from the fabrics.
Tip: You may need to repeat step 3 and step 4 from the cleaning process several times until the tomato sauce is completely absorbed by the dry piece of cloth.
Step 5: Rinse the area
Use cool water and a clean sponge to rinse the upholstery and remove the cleaning mixture from the fabrics.
Step 6: Blot and dry
Blot the spot with paper towels to absorb the moisture and leave the area to air dry. You may also use the hair dryer to speed up the drying process.
Step 7: Vacuum
When the area is completely dry you may vacuum the upholstered furniture to restore the fibres.
Tip: When vacuuming furniture upholstery, always use a soft vacuum attachment to avoid damaging the fabrics.
If the stain is hard to remove you need to consult professional cleaning services to keep the upholstery clean and spotless.
